What will my first day at Intrepid Detox Residential look like?

Committing to a treatment center is a huge step in recovery. We strive to make the admission process as comfortable and productive as possible. Similar to most treatment centers, new clients undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation. We evaluate our patient’s mental and physical health to direct them toward the best course of action.

Following the evaluation, patients undergo a closely monitored medical detox to set the foundation for a successful recovery. We want to make sure any toxin or trace of substance is clear from the body.

During the first day, our staff takes new clients on a tour of the facility. Tours may vary depending on the treatment program you choose. Then, we introduce you to our staff and medical professionals. Each staff member is motivated to give you the support and encouragement you will need to have a successful and long-term recovery.  Upon starting treatment at Intrepid Detox Residential, our ultimate goal is to make you feel at home.

Why is medical detox so important?

There may be serious consequences involved when suddenly stopping some drugs. Withdrawal symptoms from particular substances may be severe and even fatal in some circumstances. With that being said, we take medical detox very seriously. Our staff ensures each client is as comfortable as possible during this stage of treatment.

What happens after detox?

After detox, we continue monitoring and evaluating the patient’s social, physical, and psychological status. We look for certain environmental risk factors that could potentially trigger relapse. We put a lot of effort into building patient’s skills and strategies to help prevent relapse.

Following detox, many patients enter an inpatient treatment program or an outpatient program. Many patients find that they may have underlying mental health issues that need treatment as well. After you finish our inpatient program, we can refer you to an outpatient program, as well as support groups and aftercare.

Does Intrepid Detox offer treatment for co-occurring mental disorders?

After detox, many of our clients find they have an underlying mental issue that co-occurs with their addiction. We believe the best way to treat individuals with a dual diagnosis is to treat both issues simultaneously.

What does a “formal assessment” entail?

Following a closely monitored medical detox, clients undergo a formal assessment. This assessment looks at other personal characteristics aside from addiction. Our drug abuse specialists evaluate client’s potential for social, psychological, or behavioral issues.

Doctors interview clients and use technical analysis to determine the severity and duration of addiction. Since the initial formal assessment is drastically important moving forward, clients are expected to give detailed and honest answers.

Following the assessment, doctors may diagnose their patients with any potential co-occurring disorders. This information allows Intrepid Detox to provide the treatment needed for each individual client.
